I know we’re living in an age where some folks are shunning bread, but, baby, before you say no – you gotta taste this delightfully crusty on the outside, substantial, yet fluffy and buttery on the inside, beer bread.

With most easy beer bread recipes, they call for consumption immediately after baked, as in hot from the oven.
Yep, do that.
The lovely thing is you can also have it later, toasted with soups or mac and cheese.

Most quick breads are meant to be eaten the day they are baked for a reason: their freshness simply doesn’t hold up.
This perfect little loaf was different in that it was unexpectedly moist and equally delicious the next day without toasting.

What is a quick bread?
Quick breads are made without using yeast or eggs.
You basically use leavening agents like baking soda or baking powder.
Then, instead of having to wait for the bread to rise, like a yeast bread, you simply mix, pour, then bake.
Viola- quick bread!
Why use beer in quick bread?
1: It tastes like tailgating, summer, and the best of Texas all rolled into one entity!
2: The beer acts as part of the leavening process.
3: It gives the bread a yummy yeasty flavor without having to take the time to make an actual yeast bread.
4: A large portion of the alcohol burns off during cooking, leaving that much sought after flavor in the bread.
What kind of beer is best to use in beer bread?
While I used Shiner beer (Texas, y’all!), feel free to use whatever beer floats your boat.
Lots of folks like a strong tasting beer, like a Shiner Bock, which is more of a dark lager (always a good choice).
For this recipe, I used a Shiner Premium, which a bit lighter and sweeter (while not being sweet) than most heavier beers.
The best advice I can give you is that I don’t think you can go wrong by using a beer you love.
Once you’ve used your favorite beer – start experimenting!

No matter which beer you use, your taste buds will thank you.
Are you new to baking bread?
You’re in luck!
Bread-making usually consists of carefully measuring all ingredients, proofing the yeast (which is incredibly fickle), mixing all those carefully measured ingredients, waiting for the first rise, then the second, forming the loafs, and finally on to baking – DON’T OVERBAKE!

Shiner Beer Bread
Ingredients
3 cups all-purpose flour
2 Tbsp. sugar
1 Tbsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
2 Tbsp. raw honey
1 bottle (12 ounces) Shiner Premium beer (or baker’s choice), room temperature
4 Tbsp. (half stick) butter, melted
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions
1: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
2: Grease a 9x 5x 3-inch loaf pan.
3: Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder and salt together.
4: Stir the beer and honey into the dry ingredients until just mixed. It will look lumpy.
5: Pour half the melted butter into the loaf pan.
6: Spoon the batter into the pan, and pour the rest of the butter on top of the batter.
7: Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, until top is golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
